11th NA session next week

The 11th session of National Assembly (NA)’s 13th tenure is scheduled to take place in Hà Nội between March 21 and April 12, with important issues on the agenda, Lê Minh Thông, NA Vice Secretary General and Vice Chairman of NA’s Law Committee said yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — The 11th session of National Assembly (NA)’s 13th tenure is scheduled to take place in Hà Nội between March 21 and April 12, with important issues on the agenda, Lê Minh Thông, NA Vice Secretary General and Vice Chairman of NA’s Law Committee said yesterday.

The highlight of the 19-day gathering will be the election of top state and government positions.

Deputies will review and adopt seven bills, namely the Law on Access to Information; amended Laws on Conclusion, Accession, and Implementation of International Treaties, on the Media, Child Protection, Care and Education, Pharmacy; the Law on amendment and supplement to some articles of the Law on Value Added Tax; the Law on Special Consumption Tax; and the Law on Tax Administration, the Law on Export and Import Duty.

Regarding the Demonstration Law, Nguyễn Hạnh Phúc, NA Secretary General and NA Office Chairman, said that the Government needed time to carefully prepare the law and would submit it to the NA in the next tenure.

At its 11th session, the NA will also review and debate a number of socio-economic issues including the implementation of 2015 socio-economic development goals, the  2015 State budget and the implementation of the five-year plan for socio-economic development from 2011-15.

Also under discussion will be the five-year plan for land use from 2016-20.

Summary reports from the 13th NA and its agencies, State Audit, State President, the Government, the Prime Minister, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy; report of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front on summary of voters, comments and petitions; report of the NA’s Standing Committee’s oversight of the resolution to voters’ comments and petitions submitted to the 13th NA’s 10th session will be under debate.

The adoption of the Agreement of visa issuance between Việt Nam and the United States is also on the agenda. — VNS
